However, the Town of Westminster's life was short-lived. In the early 1990's, the City of London proposed a massive land annexation, which included the entire Westminister municipality.

In 1992 , after months of political debates involving the Ontario government, the City of London, and local residents, the proposed annexation was allowed to proceed. On January 1, 1993 , the Town of Westminister ceased to exist and became part of the City of London.
