Kilkowski was born on September 26 , 1921 in Berlin , Germany . Early on she went to school, and later on worked in a Heinkel Aircraft Plant in Berlin. In 1941 she went to Ravensbruck as a volunteer, probably to earn more money. She trained there, and served out her duties until 1944 or early 1945 when she was selected to serve at the Neustadt Glewe subcamp near Lubeck , Germany.

She continued there until May 1 , 1945 . After the war, an East German court found her guilty of mistreating female prisoners and sentenced her to nine months in prison.
