Political Agenda

Increasingly the mass media can have an effect in shaping the political agenda through its news coverage of news stories. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was able to shape the political agenda by running a series of programmes which criticised the quality of school dinners in the United Kingdom . This led to government action by education secretary Ruth Kelly to improve the quality of meals which would not have occurred if it was not for such prominent and vocal criticism. {Link without Title}

A political party can be described as “shaping the political agenda” or “setting the political agenda” if its promotion of certain issues gains prominent news coverage, for example at election time a political party wants to promote is polices and gain prominent news coverage in order to increase its support.

Another definition of Political Agenda that often goes unrecognized in the Individual is one's goals. A political agenda in this sense is one's own Goals , whether they are Moral , Ethical , Social or any number of other adjectives. The person who buys a Plate for eating and serving food had an agenda when walking into the store; we can guess the person wanted to have a place to eat food for himself or that she planned to host a social gathering, maybe a party. A strinkingly large number of people act without recognizing their own political agendas, which is an entirely questionable group of actions as never in History has their been repeated success from a lack of planning.
