Peder Anker ( December 8 1749 - December 10 1824 ) was a Norwegian businessman and politician. Anker was the son of Christian Anker , who had in 1820 acquired half of the forests around Christiania (now Oslo ) for purposes of forestry. Peder Anker built on the estate and acquired the rest of the forests, as well as agricultural and iron mining and foundries, notably Bærums Verk and Hakadal Verk . He owned the manors of Vækerø and Bogstad Hovedgård in Oslo and rose to become one of Norway's richest individuals. He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention In Eidsvoll In 1814 distinguishing himself as a "unionist." He was appointed prime minister of Norway to Stockholm after the union was established, and remained in this position until 1822 . |
