There are a variety of common about the inhabitants of various nations, held by inhabitants of other nations. Such stereotypes are usually prejudicial and often ill-informed, and often overlap with Ethnic or Racial stereotypes. However, some stereotypes may be positive (e.g. Australians are good at sports), although this does not make them acceptable.
Examples of common national stereotypes include:
- Africans are uncivilized, wear loincloths, carry spears, and their women have saggy breasts.
- Americans are Fat , ignorant, War -mongering and/or Boorish , don't know or care about other countries and talk with stupid accents.
- Asian s are all experts in martial arts and good at math.
- Australians wear weatherbeaten hats with dangling corks, and are good at sports as well as being ignorant and boorish.
- Black People speak in Ebonics and enjoy fried chicken, from Popeye's or KFC . They often possess firearms and are part of gangs. They use paycheck cashing services and rent furniture.
- Brazilian women are sexy and Brazilian men are great soccer players.
- Canadians are overly polite and say "Eh" after every sentence, and pronounce "about" as "aboot". They wear winter clothing year-round and are obsesed with Hockey .
- Chinese do not respect laws. Talk loud regardless where they are. They have very bad breath. Also, they pronounce "L" sounds as "R" sounds or Vice-versa
- The English tolerate eccentric people, drink tea, and are enthusiastic about Football (soccer) to the point of public disorder. They also have bad teeth, talk posh and think they are the better of you. They also deeply respect The Queen and sometimes worship her. They wear bowler hats and always carry umbrellas.
- French people never bathe, smoke heavily, always wear a beret, eat frogs' legs, are rude, and are rather weak and cowardly. They travel by bicycle with a string of onions around their neck. The French also enjoy 'smelly' cheeses, and snails to eat.
- Germans (sometimes Austrians ) are Nazis , consume huge amounts of beer, sausages, cabbage and behave like machines, efficient but unemotional. They have no sense of humor. They wear lederhosen and are good are making cars.
- Indians smell like curry, live next door and either own Restaurants or Convenience Stores , drive Taxicabs or are employed in the IT sector or work in Gas Stations . Generally they are thrifty (e.g. bargaining at the stores, etc.), and like to show off/take credits. Are also good talkers.
- Irish are drunk and/or fiery-tempered Redheads and have a large amount of children. They drink Guinness and like horse racing. They are also Catholic and hate the English
- Italian men are Chauvinists , mobsters, Hot-blooded and/or over- Emotional , vain, and live an indulgent lifestyle. Often they are fashionable and elegant looking and drive sport cars.
- Japanese are workaholics and are of short stature and penis size; Japanese tourists spend their entire trip taking pictures of things. They copy and try to fit the western cultures. Guys pluck their eye brows and dye their hair in red. Japanese women like westerners.
- Jews are careful and obsessed with money, usually do commerce or finance related jobs and many of them are obsessed with Religion . They can't throw away stuff without a refund. Most Jewish children are encouraged to become either bankers, lawyers or doctors and Jewish women are strongly urged to marry a wealthy man or professional.
- Mexicans are dirty, drink too much tequila, work for little money, are illegal immigrants, are either Obese or scrawny, take naps, and are sex maniacs. As well, most Mexican women are cleaning ladies.
- Middle Easterners commit or support terrorist acts. Twisted and sex maniac also. They detest Israel and are ruled by an evil dicator
- Native Americans are impoverished, drunks, or noble savages. Moreover, they are unattractive. They run casinos.
- New Jersey natives has a "New York Accent" and pronounces Jersey as 'Joisy'. They are also very bad drivers and use to much hair spray. People from New Jersey spend most of their free time at the mall.
- Polish In the US, they are seen as very dim-witted, and are famous for building a submarine with a screen door, and travelling to the sun (at night). In Europe, they are said to be thieves and pickpockets. In France and sometimes Britain they are seen as cheap and efficient Plumbers .
- Puerto Ricans tend to be rowdy, the majority of them live on Welfare and apply for Public Housing, and make too much noise. They always drive around with Puerto Rican flags in their cars, sometimes in covering the entire back window of their cars and they have large amounts of people living in very small apartments or houses which they destroy because they never clean and cook terrible smelling food.
- Romanians Romanians eat cabage rolls, sausages and polenta. They are really proud of their country but want to leave it when nobody is looking. They never admit their mistakes and are dutifuly compliant with the requests of the US government.
- Russians drink Vodka and are Communists . They are good at chess and logical problems.
- Scottish people are a' a bunch o' irn bru swilling alkies who like tae say wurds in a funny way an' a' like tae read The Broons and Oor Wullie . They also a' wear kilts and live in Govan.
- Spaniards are people who always have bull races.
- Southeast Asians , which include Thai, Burmese, Laotians, Cambodians are generally polite, humble and hospitable.
- Swedish have blonde hair and Swedish girls are very tall and good looking.
- Welsh people are fat, ugly, love sheep and hate anything English . They drink massive amounts of beer and are seen as Neds . They have a language that sounds like you're getting strangled or choked.
Such national stereotypes, being instantly recognised, play an important role in Advertising and Comedy . They also play a more serious role in provoking and maintaining conflict and War between nations. An example of this is actor David Chappelle . He criticizes Puerto Ricans for being lazy, Asian women to be extremely flat, black women to be gold diggers, Mexicans for not bathing, and Indian or South Asian people to smell like curry or have inaccurate Accents.
Most negative/prejudicial national stereotypes also have positive ones that exist alongside them. Examples of such positive stereotypes would be that: Israel is are highly educated computer-experts; Iceland ers are excellent business people; the British are very creative; the Japanese are very polite; and Asia ns are highly intelligent.
