The show aired, like its title suggests, at Noon on every weekday and was a variety show, with various international musical guests and interviews taking place. RAY MARTIN It was originally hosted by Ray Martin , who had the longest stint from 1985-1993, and he made a name for himself as the face of Midday, becoming very popular with housewives and paving the way for his success with '' A Current Affair ''. In his time on the show, a notable scuff-up took place in 1991, which was later relived on a Bushells tea television advertisement. SEARCH FOR NEW HOST Following Martin's departure in 1993, Midday faced a format re-shuffle, with a new host, Derryn Hinch , trialled in 1994, he only lasted one year before they again made a change in 1995, this time with two hosts, '' Getaway 's'' David Reyne , and Tracy Grimshaw . In 1996 Kerri-Anne Kennerly became the final host until the show's demise in 1998. DEMISE The Midday Show ended in 1998, with an end to the career of Nine Network musical conductor stalwart Geoff Harvey . It was replaced with '' The Young And The Restless '' and other Soap -style American shows. However, Kerri-Anne now hosts a morning show that was put up to give competition to Good Morning Australia , which has since been axed. This morning show is entitled '' Mornings With Kerri-Anne ''.
