Many Archaeologists prefer cultural diffusion as an explanation for the spread of ideas and culture in the past, as opposed to theories based on the migration of peoples. Mostly, cultural diffusion is a result of migration of people. Many people in search of employment emmigrate from one city to another, and thus we see cultural diffusion.
