We know that from formula F = μR

where F : Frictional force
μ : coefficient of friction
R : normal force
as we see in formula that no where term contact area is come
  • area .we can understand this by taking two block one is Fe and other is Al and both have same weight so difinately size of aluminium block will be more , i.e. is contact area of aluminium is more .If we keep both block on same surface and pull with same angle then friction force will be same in both case . and in both case normal force is same .


hence it is prove that frictinal force is not depend on contact area..
