Catalytic Reformer

The feedstock is gas oil and the cracking reaction takes place in the riser reactor. The catalyst is cleaned off with hot air in the regenerator.
Molecules in the feedstock usually have 30-40 carbon atoms. The riser eacor is a 60m x 2m tube. Hot vapourised hydrocarbons and powdered catalyst are fed in the bottom and forces up by steam. The catalyst acts as a fluidised bed.
