Information About

Badonkadonk

The origin of the term's widespread popularity may be the lyric "love the way my ass go badonkadonk- donk" from Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot's 2002 song " Work It ".1 The term appeared earlier in the song ''Fatty Girl'', released in 2001. A line sung by rapper Keith Murray in that song goes: ''You got a Badoonka-doonk girl, don't hurt nobody!''2

The term gained new popularity in 2005 from " Honkytonk Badonkadonk ", a #1 Country And Western song by Trace Adkins , about a denizen of a night club renowned for her dancing and her badonkadonk. This song illustrates that the term has moved beyond its African American origins into the mainstream, although some listeners have mistakenly assumed that Adkins had coined the term.3

The term is the colleague of a much lesser used term "Dunky Butt." This term is used exclusively by African American Vernacular , although is can be used to refer to a woman's Buttocks it is usually a reference to the "typical" relatively large, very round size of the Buttocks of black males. It is used as a reference to the naturally curvaceous "black derriere" in general, as well. This term seems to have it's origin as an answer to the male slang for women and seems to originate from the link between males and basketball.
