In 2007, the championships will take place in Tokyo , Japan from March 19 to 25 and in Göteborg , Sweden in 2008 from March 17 to 23. April 15, 2006 was ISU's deadline for submissions for the 2009 championships.

Figure skaters must qualify for their country's world team. Each International Skating Union member (national association) may enter one skater or team in each event. Some countries are permitted to enter 2 or 3 participants if their skaters performed well at the previous championship.
