Wayne Lapierre




Wayne LaPierre (born November 8 , 1948 ) has been Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Rifle Association , the United States' largest gun rights organization with over 4 million members, since 1991. He holds a BA in education and political science from Siena College and a master's degree in American government and politics from Boston College .

Along with his position in the NRA, LaPierre writes books regarding guns, on topics ranging from shooting to terrorism to gun safety. He also spends time making appearances to promote the NRA at gun shows and political events. As a leading speaker for the NRA he campaigned heavily against the Democratic candidate John Kerry and his Gun Control bills in the 2004 Presidential Elections . The NRA supports both Democratic and Republican candidates for office. In the 2004 presidential campaign the NRA worked to support Republican President George W. Bush after making a determination that Bush was the better candiate on gun gontrol policies.

LaPierre also participated in a debate at King's College London with Rebecca Peters , the head of IANSA , on October 12, 2004 .

He also presents Crime Strike, a syndicated weekly TV program that airs across the USA which advocates gun use in self-defense and highlights situations where people have taken a stand against criminals.
