Washington is a town located in Orange County, Vermont . As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,047.

GEOGRAPHY

According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 100.7 Km&² (38.9 Mi&² ). 100.6 km&² (38.9 mi&²) of it is land and 0.03% is water.

DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census ² of 2000, there were 1,047 people, 406 households, and 291 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 10.4/km&² (26.9/mi&²). There were 528 housing units at an average density of 5.2/km&² (13.6/mi&²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.23% White , 0.48% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.19% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.29% from Other Races , and 1.81% from two or more races. 0.67% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 406 households out of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.4% were Married Couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.1% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.00.
