Wansdyke was a Non-metropolitan District within the County Of Avon . The district was created on April 1 , 1974 , from Keynsham and Norton-Radstock Urban District s along with Bathavon Rural District and part of Clutton Rural District . On April 1 , 1996 , it was merged along with Bath into the Bath And North East Somerset Unitary Authority .

The district was named after the Wansdyke Earthwork .

The name remains as the Parliamentary Constituency of Wansdyke covering a similar but not identical area. The present MP for the area is Dan Norris .
