The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Ullerslev .

Neighboring municipalities are Nyborg to the southeast, Kerteminde to the north, Langeskov and Årslev to the west, and Ørbæk to the south. To the east is the Great Belt .

The municipality was created in 1970 as the result of a ''kommunalreform'' ("Municipality Reform") that merged a number of existing parishes:
  • Ellinge Parish

  • Flødstrup Parish

  • Skellerup Parish

  • Ullerslev Parish


By January 1, 2007 Ullerslev municipality will cease to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" Of 2007) . It will be merged with existing Nyborg and Ørbæk municipalities to form a new Nyborg municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 278 Km&2 and a total population of 31,009 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region").
