Under its terms, Bessarabia (the eastern half of Moldavia ) — most of it is part now of Moldova — was ceded to the Russian Empire , the Prut river becoming the new western Russian border. Also, Russia obtained trading rights on the Danube .

The treaty, signed by the Russian commander Mikhail Kutuzov , was ratified by Alexander I Of Russia just one day before Napoleon Launched His Invasion Of Russia .
