Information About

Tidworth

Tidworth used to be administratively divided into North Tidworth and South Tidworth, with the northern part of the town in Wiltshire and the southern part in Hampshire . When the boundary between the two counties was redrawn in 1992 , the old distinction vanished and all the town became part of Wiltshire. The separate parts remained as two separate Civil Parish es until April 1 , 2004 .

The local authority is Kennet District Council. This is not generally a popular council as they adopt policies that disadvantage both Tidworth and Ludgershall. The majority of expenditure is centred on Devizes and Marlborough to the detriment of all other areas.

The Council is now generally perceived as pompous and arrogant which is far from its original roots as a small friendly council; senior management is aloof and detached and have been in their current posts too long. A change of senior management would be a significant advantage both economically, culturally and socially.

The senior management have an incestuous relationship with the military authorities which critically disadvantages Tidworth as a community. Significant change is desperately required for this organisation.

Tidworth was listed in the Domesday Book as Todeorde, in the Andover Hundred , in "Hantscire".

The musician James Blunt was born in Tidworth.
