Bethlehem, New Hampshire ,
USA , approximately 3 hours north of

Secondary School in the United States. The school was established in
1886 as
St. Mary's In The Mountains in
Concord, New Hampshire , however the school moved to its current location in
1936 . The school situated itself within the
White Mountains region and is surrounded by more than 1 million acres (4,000 km²) of the
White Mountain National Forest . White Mountain has always used
Environmentalism and
Ecology as major tenent's of its curriculum. 100% of graduates attend four-year colleges or universities.
Each year, students and faculty embark on four Outdoor Learning Expeditions (OLE's). These 3-4 day outdoor trips provide students with not only wilderness skills but help to define man's relationship with the outdoors. According to the school's website: "WMS is: The first and only high school and non-guide service in the country to have its rock & ice climbing and backcountry ski programs accredited through the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA)". The most popular sports are rock climbing, white water paddling, and in the winter, snowboarding and skiing.
White Mountain also maintains a relationship with Lycee Saint Cyr in
Nevers, France as well as community oriented service trips to
Managua, Nicaragua , and
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic .
