Information About

The Science Channel

It was originally named Discovery Science, part of the Discovery Digital Suite of networks. On April 1 , 2002 , Discovery Science was officially renamed "The Science Channel". In the first quarter of 2003, The Science Channel began an extensive "makeover" to spice up the channel and incorporate new original programming. One of the more popular shows introduced since this move has been the recent addition of '' Survivorman '' with Les Stroud , as well as showing more content from PBS , the BBC , other Discovery Networks , and various other third-party sources.

It features a lot of content that was originally produced by, or aired on, TLC before its shift towards fashion oriented programming like '' Trading Spaces '' and '' What Not To Wear ''. The Science Channel also has a great deal of programming that deals with Nature , and in some aspects, conceptually overlaps subject matter with sister station Animal Planet . For example, they both often have shows on poisonous Snake s, and both sometimes show episodes of '' The Ultimate Guide '' series, some of which deal with animals.
