The Bioregional Revolution

The movement promotes the idea that "peak oil" and the other converging problems can be used as a strategic opportunity to usher in a relocalized culture that promotes small communities, localized economies, and sustainability. They claim that we should be wary of unfounded optimism, and, indeed, see the potential problems as quite likely including much suffering for many people as James Howard Kunstler , Richard Heinberg , Jan Lundberg and other "peak oil" authors have been writing about. However they promote the idea that, if a large enough segment of the population is able to effectively organize an autonomous but unified movement of people committed to the values of sustainability and nonviolence, then that society can begin the foundation of a new "social order".

The Bioregional Revolutionary Movement is among several other organizations promoting what they call positive social change in light of "peak oil" including Community Solutions located in Yellow Springs, Ohio , The Post-Carbon Institute , and PeakOilAction.org.

They are currently working toward creating an ecovillage and " Bioregional University ."
