GEOGRAPHY

Stuart is located at 34°54'3" North, 96°6'0" West (34.900839, -96.100035).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 0.7 Km&² (0.3 Mi&² ). 0.7 km&² (0.3 mi&²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 220 people, 92 households, and 65 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 303.4/km&² (797.1/mi&²). There were 107 housing units at an average density of 147.5/km&² (387.7/mi&²). The racial makeup of the town was 84.55% White , 0.00% African American , 13.18% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 2.27% from two or more races. 4.09% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 92 households out of which 31.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.9% were Married Couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the town the population was spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 23.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 113.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $22,222, and the median income for a family was $29,375. Males had a median income of $22,250 versus $21,250 for females. The Per Capita Income for the town was $11,569. 20.5% of the population and 18.8% of families were below the Poverty Line . 28.6% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.

Stuart Public School lies in the heart of Stuart. Its superintendant is Mr. Bill SanMillan, Highschool & Elementary Principal Mr. Tracy Blasengame, and Counselor Mrs. Dawn Blasengame.

ATHLETICS

Stuarts athletic director is Mr. Blasengame. Its head coach is its girls basketball coach, Coach Russ Harrison. Coach Matt Pierce is the highscool boys' basketball and baseball coach. Jimmie Wyrick is the highscool softball coach. Mrs. Debbie Tipton, a multiple-time Teachor of the Year Nominee, is the schools Scholastic Director.

Stuart Hornets Boys' Basketball for the 2005-2006 season was made up of: Freshmen Colton Snead and Tyler Lott, Sophomores Sam Peters, Taylor Murdaugh, Andrew Dunnagen, Colton Courts, Juniors Levi Reynolds, Winn Ratliff, Tyler Strauss, Jordan Hearod, and Seniors Randy and Levon Tipton. It was coached by Matt Pierce.

The Lady Hornets were made up of: Freshmen Michele Blevins, Andie Frasier, Olivia Sennett, Sophomores Virginia Hellerud, Cacey Sanders, Clemmie Wimberly, Micah Patterson, Montana Dilbeck, Juniors Tilbi Peters, Rachel Null, Kindall Roberts, and Seniors Keleena Hellerud, Jessica Moore, and Steva Guffey. They were coached by Coach Russ Harrison.

The 2006 Homecoming King and Queen were Mr. Randy Tipton and Miss Steva Guffey. The runners-up were Mr. Levon Tipton and Miss Jessica Moore, followed by Mr. Levi Reynolds and Miss. Keleena Hellerud.

STUDENT BODY

Stuarts Senior class sponsors are Mr. Wyrick(Science, Softball) and Mrs. Jordan(Special Education). The Senior class President is Randy Tipton.

The Junior class sponsors are Mrs. Tipton(Math, Spanish, Quizbowl) and Ms. Boatright(Computer sciences). Its president is Jordan Hearod.

Sophomore class sponsors are Mr. Harrison(History, Basketball). Sophomore president is Zach Shreffler.

Matt Pierce(History, Basketball) is the Freshman class sponsor. Jesseka Howell is their class President.
