Information About

Stadsfries

At the start of the 20th century, in those towns it was the predominant language, and was the mother tongue to more than 90% of the population. By the end of the century, however, its use had dropped, being spoken by about a quarter of the population.

Most Stadsfries studies have focused on determining either a Franconian ( Holland ic) or a Frisian origin. The latest study has shown Stadsfries shares characteristics with the dialects of South Holland .
