Archer IV is one of two planets named in honor of Captain Jonathan Archer who was Captain of the 22nd century '' Enterprise ''. The planet was home to a pollen that contained the toxin tropolisine, which caused paranoid delusions among the first group to visit the planet, and with prolonged exposure, caused death if not treated. The planet was not suitable for human colonization until the early 23rd century, when the pollen was finally eliminated.
