Riga International Airport




Renovation and modernization of the Rīga International Airport ended in 2001 , coinciding with the Rīga's 800th anniversary. The airport is a state-owned Joint-stock Company , with the owner of all shares being the Latvian Government . The holder of state capital share is the Latvia's Ministry of Transport.

Rīga International Airport is one of the three notable airports in Latvia. The other two are the Liepāja International Airport and the Ventspils Airport . Rīga International Airport's biggest air carrier is AirBaltic .

In 2005, the airport served 1.9 million passengers. Also in 2006 was opened the new south part of the terminal. The airport plans to built new terminal, that will receive about 10 million pesengers a year.
