Information About

Pumas Dorados De La Unam

The beginning of this team can be traced to the years between 1927 and 1932, the time when the game arrived and consolidated at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico. The team had a very long chain of straight championships from 1933 to 1945; years later came the so-called "Golden Age" from 1946 to 1957. Between the years 1958 to 1969 the team consolidated its position within the ONEFA. For the period 1970-1980 the university authorities decided to disband the team and create three teams (Cóndores /Condors , Aguilas Reales / Royal Eagles and Guerreros Aztecas / Aztec Warriors), from 1981 to 1990 only the Cóndores could take over the ancient tradition of the Pumas and achieve many championships. Then the university government decided to return the old team and rebuilt the Pumas in 1991 but the conditions of the league and the existence of other powerful new comer squads mined the strength, power and dominance of the team and its first position tradition vanished rapidly from the season of 1991 to 2004.

The team plays at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City.
