It's source is the River Moctezuma in the Valley of Mexico, on the Plateau of Anáhuac, where it serves as a channel for water-drainage for the city of Mexico. From there, it follows a course of the state borders between Hidalgo and Queretaro as it moves towards San Luis Potosi . It takes the name 'Río Pánuco' on reaching Veracruz. It is approximately 500Km in length but only the last 15 Km is navigable for larger ships. |
