Nikolai Platonovich Patrushev




Patrushev started his career at state security organs. After completing the KGB higher educational courses with the USSR Council Of Ministers , he began to work at Counter-intelligence section of the USSR UKGB Leningrad region. Patrushev later transferred to Ministry of State Security, Republic Of Karelia in 1992. He held an administrative position in the FSB from 1994 to 1998.

Patrushev became the deputy chief of the president's administration of the Russian Federation in 1998. He served as the deputy director the department of economic safety FSB of Russia from October 1998, and from 1999 served as the first deputy director of Federal Security Service.

Patrushev was appointed as the director of FSB on August 9, 1999, following a presidential decree. His predecessor in this post was , Honor of “the Military Merits” and 7 other medals. He has also been awarded honors and medals from a number of foreign countries.
