History

MBI was founded as the Chicago Evangelization Society in 1886. In 1887, it adopted a constitution and named D. L. Moody as its first president. Below is a list of MBI's presidents.

Education

Moody Bible's flagship ministry and founding purpose is education. The school offers three different education divisions: undergraduate school, graduate school and Distance Learning . MBI trains students for full-time ministry in churches and Parachurch organizations. Some of the majors that are offered include Pastoral Studies, Theology , Bible, Youth Ministry, Elementary Education and Missionary Aviation Technology.

MBI undergraduate students do not pay tuition (although they do pay room and board), so that they can enter into full-time ministry at graduation without the burden of student loans. The tuition-paid policy is funded by generous gifts from donors, many of them alumni of MBI.

Radio

The Moody Broadcasting Network is a network of over 30 radio stations across the United States. MBN also broadcasts on Sky Angel , a family-friendly satellite television service. While the network requires that each affiliate provide a certain percentage of its own programming, the Moody Broadcasting Network also provides programming from other sources (such as James Dobson 's Focus On The Family program and the Crown Financial Ministry 's Money Matters program. The Chicago flagship station, WMBI , produces ''Proclaim!'', which offers teaching from the Moody Bible Institute President.

Publishing

Moody Publishers is an organization that publishes resources regarding Christian living, similar to Inter-Varsity Press and Zondervan . As of early 2006 , they are best known for Gary Chapman's book ''The Five Love Languages'', a work intended to promote communication between engaged and married couples.
