Minister For Justice




The Minister for Justice is the head of the Scottish Executive Justice Department and is a cabinet position in the devolved Government Of Scotland . The position was created in 1999 , with the advent of Devolution to Scotland and the institution of the Scottish Parliament , taking over some of the roles and functions of the former Scottish Office Minister for Home and Health that existed prior to 1999 . The Minister for Justice exercises responsibility over Scotland 's Criminal Justice System , Courts , Fire Services, Police, Prisons, Civil Emergencies and Civil Justice and Law. The current Minister for Justice is Cathy Jamieson who was appointed to the role after the Scottish Parliamentary Election Of 2003 .
