HISTORY First documents of the year 1075 mentioning the town were found. Wine has been cultivated in Metzingen which lead to a spread of wealth around 1600 . During the Thirty Years' War Metzingen was considerably destroyed and soon after two third of the population died of a Plague epidemy. After the Industrialization different textile factories were built in Metzingen. 1859 Metzingen is connected to the rail network between Tübingen and Stuttgart . FACTORY OUTLET Today, Metzingen is famous for its factory outlets, attracting people from all over the country and even Europe. Hugo Boss , which was founded in Metzingen and still has its headquarters there, started first with its factory outlet and was soon followed by other companies (e.g. Reebok, Joop, Strenesse, Escada, Bally, Puma etc.) who offer a range of their clothing at reduced price.
