Mahatma Gandhi Setu is a Bridge over the river Ganges connecting Patna in the south to Hajipur in north in Bihar , India . Its length is 5,850 meters and it is said to be the longest single river bridge in the world. The approach to the bridge from the south is a two km long flyover. It was inaugurated in May 1982 by Indian Prime Minister , Mrs Indira Gandhi . There are 39 piers to this bridge. |
