Carvajal y Mendoza led an active life, with a rather mysterious background. Her parents died when she was young, leaving her an Orphan . The Jaraicejo native moved to live with her uncle and aunt in Pamplona . Apparently, it was unknown by young Luisa and her new family that she was, in fact, the inheritor of a large fortune which had been left by other family members for young Luisa. Carvajal y Mendoza, to her and her family's surprise, received a large sum of money when she grew. As a little girl, Carvajal y Mendoza enjoyed visiting Church es, and she decided to devote the rest of her life to God . Carvajal y Mendoza remained a Christian , apparently of the Catholic denomination, of the rest of her life. Carvajal y Mendoza decided to travel to Leuven , Belgium , as the first thing she did with her inheritance money. She was important in the founding of a Jesuit college there. But problems and scandal arose in the college; Jesuits were generally not well accepted in the area and the Jesuits had to leave, with Carvajal leaving with them. Carvajal returned to Pamplona after her uncle and aunt's Death s, and she formed a religious group comprised of her and her family's ex servants. The group, with the blessing of the local Catholic community, lasted for twelve years, after which Carvajal asked for a permission to travel to London . During her time as her religious group's leader and all the way until her death, Carvajal y Mendoza became a prolific Book writer; it is estimated that she wrote around fifty books, mostly about Poetry and religion. Her books are currently valued at thousands of Dollars by book collectors. She became one of Spain's most famous book writers of the era. In London, Carvajal y Mendoza was viewed as a Feminist by many, including the government. She founded an all Women 's religious association, and she visited Hospital s, to try to convert Protestant patients into Catholism. This was an illegal practice in the London of the era, and Carvajal spent various stints in Jail for what was then viewed as a Crime . King against him, and historians believe that the King himself was behind Carvajal y Mendoza's jail sentences. Carvajal y Mendoza's problems with London laws got to a point in which she was almost Beheaded . However, with the intervention of Spain's ambassador to England , she was released. Carbajal y Mendoza was to return to Spain immediately after her releasing. But during her return trip, she died a sudden and mysterious death.
