Kimberley is a small mining town in British Columbia , Canada , located in the southeastern tip of the province, along Highway 95A in between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains . Kimberley was named in 1896 after the Kimberley Mine in South Africa . From 1917 to 2001, it was the home to the world's largest lead and zinc mine, the Sullivan Mine .


HISTORY

Kimberley was incorporated as a city in 1944 . It became the ''Bavarian City of the Rockies'' in the 1970s.
