The Kidarite Kingdom was founded during the middle of the 4th Century CE by a Kushan vassal in Pakistan , named Kidara. He rose to power and overthrew the old Kushan dynasty.

He created a kingdom known as the Kidarite Kingdom, although he probably considered himself a Kushan, as indicated by the Kushan style of his coins. The Kidarite seem to have been rather prosperous, although on a smaller scale than their Kushan predecessors.

The Kidarites were the last remnants of the Kushan empire. They were ultimately wiped out in the 5th Century by the invasions of the White Huns , and later the expansion of Islam .
