SUBDIVISIONS


Kaplan Test Preparation & Admissions is the largest subdivision of Kaplan, and sells test preparation designed to help students earn higher scores on Standardized Test s. Kaplan offers both individual tutoring and highly standardized classes to prepare students for all sorts of standardized tests, particularly college Admissions Tests such as the SAT and ACT as well as graduate school tests such as the LSAT , GMAT , MCAT , and GRE . Kaplan competes with Princeton Review and Peterson's in this category.

Courses are taught in a uniform, modular manner. A student enrolled in a course can take each lesson anywhere a class is being taught, and classes can also be taken online or by viewing recorded videos. Kaplan courses are typically taught at special Kaplan centers, although they are frequently offered in locations such as schools and community centers. Students also have the option of taking courses fully online.

Kaplan Professional offers professional education for licensing, certification, and training purposes. Areas of education include real estate, financial services, architecture, and others.

Kaplan Higher Education is a group of institutions that offer fixed-facility and online certificate and degree programs in fields such as criminal justice, healthcare, business, information technology and legal studies. Each of the individual schools in the division is separately accredited by one of several national or regional accrediting agencies approved by the U.S. Department of Education. The unit includes the fixed-facility colleges that were formerly part of Quest Education as well as online post-secondary and career schools(Kaplan University).

SCORE! Educational Centers is a United States provider of customized education services for children in grades Kindergarten to 10 . The SCORE! program is conducted through specialized SCORE! education centers nationwide.


HISTORY


Kaplan was founded by Stanley Kaplan , who started the business by tutoring the SAT to students in his basement. In 2000, Kaplan acquired Quest Education , adding their fixed-facility colleges to Kaplan Higher Education's array of institutions.
