|
Julia Caesaris is the name of two daughters of Gaius Julius Caesar III and Aurelia Cotta , who were also the parents of Julius Caesar . The sisters were born and raised in Rome. Both of these Juliae Caesares were elder sisters of Julius Caesar. As the eldest of them died young (and little is known about her), the remainder of this article is about the second of Julius Caesar's elder sisters, Augustus ' grandmother. Julia Caesaris ( 101 BC – 51 BC ), second beloved eldest sister of Julius Caesar, married Marcus Atius Balbus , a man from a senatorial family. They had 3 daughters Atia Balba Prima , Atia Balba Caesonia (Augustus' mother) and Atia Balba Tertia . Marcus Atius died in 52 BC . When Julia Caesaris died a year later, Augustus at age 12 delivered her funeral eulogy. |
