Up to the 1330s, he was widely recognized as ruler of all Morea, i.e. the Principality Of Achaea .

He married Constança of Aragon, daughter of Alfonso IV Of Aragon . His heir was his son James IV Of Majorca , who ruled in Morea as Prince of Achaia and was claimant to Majorca, and was married with Queen Joan I Of Naples . James IV, King-consort of Naples, died childless and James III's daughter, Elizabeth, the Margravine of Montferrat, inherited the claims.
