]] In Islam , God (Arabic Allāh ) is the sole creator and master of the universe. The Qur'an describes God thusly: ''"Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him."'' {Link without Title} GOD'S ATTRIBUTES Muslims consider God to be:
He is said not resemble any of his creations in any way, and is not ascribed any physical quality. GOD'S OMNISCIENCE The Qur'an describes God as being Fully Aware of everything that happens in the universe, including private thoughts and feelings: ''"It is He who doth take your souls by night, and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day: by day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; In the end unto Him will be your return; then will He show you the truth of all that ye did."''() ''"When the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts, and she then divulged it (to another), and Allah made it known to him, he confirmed part thereof and repudiated a part. Then when he told her thereof, she said, "Who told thee this? "He said, "He told me Who knows and is well-acquainted (with all things)"''() GOD'S LOCATION Muslims do not believe that God is located in a particular place. He is said to be "in Heaven" () and "in the heavens and the earth" , but also said to be "nearer to him {Link without Title} than his Jugular Vein " (). Placing God inside his creation, in the literal sense, or suggesting that nature or creation simultaneously co-exist in God or vice versa, as in other religious traditions, is incompatible with Islamic Monotheism . ASSOCIATING PARTNERS WITH GOD Associating a partner, spouse, father, son, daughter, mother or other relation(s) to God, literally or metaphorically, partially or completely, is considered blasphemous by Muslims. The Qur'an condemns and mocks the pre-Islamic Arabs for attributing daughters to Allāh . PROHIBITION OF IDOLATRY Muslim s are not Iconodules and this extends to all religious aspects (including any Iconographic depiction other than in writing) so that it does not lead to Idolatry . Instead, they focus on His 99 "attributes" that are stated in the Qur'an , the Holy Book of the Muslims. Nearly one third of the book is used describing God's attributes and actions. Also, " Hadith Qudsi " are special recorded sayings of Muhammad to Muslims where he quotes what God says to him. The ninety-nine "Attributes" are frequently written in calligraphic Arabic as a permissible decoration, which adorns Mosque s and homes of Muslims. |
