ILFC ('''International Lease Finance Corporation''', though the abbreviation is the more common usage) is an Aircraft Lessor headquartered in Los Angeles , California . It is the world's largest aircraft lessor by value, though ILFC's archrival, General Electric's GECAS unit has more aircraft. It leases Boeing and Airbus aircraft to airlines worldwide including Air France-KLM , Lufthansa , American Airlines , Continental Airlines , Emirates , and Vietnam Airlines . ILFC is owned by U.S. insurance giant AIG , and is run by founder Steven F. Udvar-Hazy . At the beginning of 2005 , ILFC had an inventory of 824 aircraft (per AvSoft/'' The Wall Street Journal ''.) ILFC has ordered five passenger Airbus A380 aircraft and five freighter versions and will receive the first aircraft in the summer of 2007 . It has already placed two passenger versions with Emirates and is in talks to lease a further two to Air China . Talks with other carriers are ongoing, including Cathay Pacific (ref: Airliner World, March 2005). EXTERNAL LINKS |
