He followed, under protection of his mother, his father as Stadtholder of Friesland and Groningen . In 1675 the State of Friesland voted to make the Stadtholdership hereditory in the house of Nassau-Dietz . Hendrik Casimir II was therefor the first Friese Stadtholder. He was married in 1683 to his cousin Henriëtte Amalia Van Anhalt-Dessau . Hedrik Casimir was succeeded as Stadtholder by his son Johan Willem Friso Of Orange-Nassau .
