Greenway Estate




  • listed building. The Greenway estate is known for its large riverside garden, which was acquired by the National Trust in 1999 . The gardens contain plants from the southern hemisphere and have been open to the public since March 2002 .


The house was occupied by Christie and Mallowan until their deaths in 1976 and 1978 respectively. Christie's daughter Rosalind and her husband Anthony Hicks lived in the house from 1968 . Rosalind Hicks died in 2004 .

The garden is open to the public as is the Barn Gallery, which shows work by contemporary local artists. The house is not open.
