Geography Goessel is located at 38°14'49" North, 97°20'53" West (38.246972, -97.348178). Demographics As of the Census of 2000, there were 565 people, 203 households, and 142 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 727.2/km&2 (1,870.3/mi&2). There were 221 housing units at an average density of 284.4/km&2 (731.6/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.70% White , 0.00% African American , 0.18% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.18% from Other Races , and 1.95% from two or more races. 0.71% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 203 households out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.1% were Married Couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 27.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.98. In the city the population was spread out with 21.6% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 16.1% from 45 to 64, and 32.0% who were 65 years of age or older.
