This area corresponds more or less to north-western Europe and some parts of Central Europe . The main religion of the region is/was Protestantism , but the region is also home to significant Catholic populations, especially in southern Germany (particularly Bavaria ), Austria as well as Belgium and the southern regions of the Netherlands ). This region consists of Iceland , Germany , The United Kingdom , Austria , Netherlands , Denmark , Sweden , Norway , Luxembourg , Liechtenstein , the Faroe Islands , the German Speaking Part Of Switzerland , the Flemish Region and the smaller East Cantons in Belgium , the Swedish-speaking Municipalities of Finland, Alsace-Moselle and French Flanders in France , and the South Tyrol autonomous province in Italy.
