HISTORY Excerpt from the G-Tones website: "God inspired Mark Henry and Derrick Mitchell to create the G-tones at Grinnell College. Their ultimate goal? Creating a group of some of the sexiest, superior singing beings on Earth. Well, at least on campus. This all-male acappella group was formed in 2002. They have previously performed across Iowa and in Boston, New York, Minneapolis - St. Paul, Chicago, Nassau, and most recently, London. They have recorded three CDs, ''Shake A Little Hand'', ''Deficitspending'', and ''Save the Campus Bikes'', and are planning another release sometime in 2006. A Grinnell Hymns CD is also in the works. The G-Tones are continually increasing their musical vocabulary, with songs ranging from traditional ballads and jazz to barbershop, Broadway, classic rock, and American pop. The G-Tones are Grinnell's signature all male acappella group. After three years, the G-Tones continue to maintain the spontaneity, humor, and quality vocal performances that have made them a campus favorite." MUSIC The G-Tones try to put out a CD every year, putting new material out into the a cappella world. The three CDs so far are: ''Shake a Little Hand'', ''Deficitspending'', and ''Save the Campus Bikes''. More information about their CDs can be found at their website . The G-Tones are also constantly adding to their repertoire. They incorporate songs from a variety of styles. You can view their current and past repertoire here .
