Information AboutFusha (language) |
|
Fusha is usually considered by Arabic-speaking Muslims as "proper" or "true" Arabic, as it is not an ordinary spoken Variety of Arabic (see Diglossia ). Except for extremely formal situations, Arabic speakers use their own national language or dialect in conversation for diglossic reasons (perceived inappropriateness: uneducated people sometimes use MSA casually for a laugh). If they perceive their dialect as not commonly known by the audience, they'll use MSA, or imitate some more commonly known dialect. In written contexts, Standard Arabic is predominant.
