Edward Somerset, 2nd Marquess Of Worcester

According to the ''Directory of Royal Genealogical Data'' {Link without Title} , he was "sent on a secret political mission to Ireland by Charles I. He also left
behind a literary work entitled "A century of the names and scantlings of
such inventions as at present I can call to mind to have tried and perfected
which (my former notes being lost) I have, at the instance of a powerful
friend, endeavored now, in the year 1655, to set these down in such a way, as
may sufficiently instruct me to put any of them to practice." London : Printed by J. Grismond, 1663. In this work
the power and applications of the steam engine is clearly described.

With Elizabeth Dormer, sister of Robert Dormer, 1st Earl Of Carnarvon , whom he married in 1628 , and who died on May 31st , 1635 , he had one son and two daughters:

Henry Somerset, 3rd Marquess Of Worcester , his heir and successor, who later became 1st Duke Of Beaufort ;

Lady Anne Somerset, who was born before 1635 - perhaps in October 1631 -, died in 1662 and, in round 1652 - perhaps on October 21st that year - and married to Henry Howard, 6th Duke Of Norfolk as his first wife, with whom she had three children, two sons and one daughter; and

Lady Elizabeth Somerset, who was born before 1635 , died after round 1680 and married to William Herbert, 1st Marquess Of Powis , with whom she had six children, 1 son and 5 daughters, his only children.

With Margaret O'Brien, daughter of Henry O'Brien, 4th Earl Of Tomond , whom he married in 1639 , and who died on July 26th , 1681 , he had one daughter:

Lady Mary Somerset, who died young.
