East Renfrewshire is a Constituency of the House Of Commons of the Parliament Of The United Kingdom . It elects one Member Of Parliament (MP) by the First Past The Post system of election.

From the 1983 General Election until the 2005 General Election , the constituency was called Eastwood . It is the only constituency in mainland Scotland whose boundaries were unchanged by the 2005 revision of Scottish constituencies.


BOUNDARIES

The constituency covers the East Renfrewshire council area, sitting on the borders of Glasgow . Mostly middle-class residental territory for Glasgow, the area was looked on as safely Conservative before Labour gained the seat in 1997.
