GEOGRAPHY East Bank is located at 38°13'1" North, 81°26'39" West (38.217023, -81.444112). According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 1.2 Km&2 (0.5 Mi&2 ). 1.2 km&2 (0.5 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 933 people, 373 households, and 276 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 750.5/km&2 (1,958.0/mi&2). There were 415 housing units at an average density of 333.8/km&2 (870.9/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.82% White , 0.96% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.11% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.11% from two or more races. 0.11% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 373 households out of which 27.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were Married Couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% were non-families. 23.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.95. In the town the population was spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 88.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.0 males. The median income for a household in the town was $35,341, and the median income for a family was $39,545. Males had a median income of $35,521 versus $22,045 for females.
