Information About

Earthsuit

MUSIC

Earthsuit only had one commercial release: ''Kaleidoscope Superior'' ( 2000 ). The album's 10 tracks managed to briefly gain some recognition. Only three other CD s are known. Two demo EPs contained early versions of some of ''Kaleidoscope Superior'''s songs, some unreleased songs, and a live Medley including a Cover of "Killing Me Softly". The other CD is '''''The Rise of Modern Simulation''''' which was released some time in 2003 after the band had already broken up. It was available for a short time to be purchased directly from the band's website. This collection features five original studio songs, as well as 11 bonus tracks including a live remix of ''The Kaleidoscope Superior'' track ''Against the Grain'' and practice sessions of some of their concert material (such as the ''Said the Sun To the Shine'' Kraftwerk medley, an outro medley, and a cover of the Talking Heads ' " Once In A Lifetime "). It also features several concert videos, available as extra content for the computer.

The band broke up after constant touring through 2001 . Paul Meany formed a new band by the name of Mute Math , who have an EP titled "Reset EP" and a full-length self-titled album. Adam LaClave also formed a new band, MACROSICK , who have released a demo CD appropriately titled ''demodisk''. LaClave is now working on a new project, called Club of the Sons, with MACROSICK bassist Jonathan Allen. They have released a five-song EP.

Earthsuit seemed to have genuinely appreciated music, and created music with an original compositional and arrangement style. They drew from Rapcore (they often used a melodic chorus/rap verse pattern), Funk , New Orleans Jazz , and Sampling . Reggae is an obvious influence from a percussive rhythmical approach, as well from the vocal style. This unique blend was virtually nonexistent elsewhere.

MESSAGE

Earthsuit, as a Christian band, tried to communicate a Christian message to their audience. Their lyrics often contained complicated Metaphor s, which made them interesting from an artistic point of view.

TRIVIA

  • Possibly the only time Earthsuit's music was heard on any sort of major network was on MTV / WWE 's Tough Enough . A brief instrumental portion of "Said the Sun to the Shine" was heard during episode #3, "Triple H Makes An Impact", which first aired July 5 , 2001 .

  • Earthsuit had one official video for the song "One Time". It was filmed at the Nashville airport and featured Adam's dog Charlie. It is #7 on TVU's 50 Best Videos of All Time list.
