Dodge was born in Malden, Massachusetts . A long-time Temperance Movement supporter, Dodge is a frequent Prohibition Party candidate for public office. Dodge ran for the United States Senate from Kansas in 1966 , winning 9400 votes. Dodge was also a candidate for Governor Of Colorado on five occasions ( 1970 , 1974 , 1982 , 1986 , and 1994 ), his best showing was in 1986 where he won 8200 votes. Dodge was the Vice Presidential Candidate for the Prohibition Party in 1976 and 1980 . He was nominated to be the Prohibition Party's Candidate for President Of The United States six times ( 1984 , 1988 , 1992 , 1996 , 2000 , and 2004 ). Dodge's financial relationship with the Prohibition Party and its foundations has been a subject of growing concern among party members. {Link without Title} Dodge was on the ballot in one state in 2000, winning 208 votes. This poor showing and allegations of financial mismanagement caused a rift in the Prohibition party. The pro-Dodge faction of the party nominated Dodge as their 2004 candidate. The anti-Dodge faction claimed that Dodge was nominated in a convention held in Dodge's living room. The anti-Dodge faction gained control of the Prohibition party in 2003 and they declared that Dodge was illegally nominated. Their ticket had Gene Amondson on the ballot. Dodge filed for candidacy in Colorado. The anti-Dodge faction threatened a lawsuit, but they accepted the offer of the Concerns of People Party where Amondson would be on the ballot under their line.
